Do you have a question about the Forum? Not sure how to change stuff in your Profile? Or want to know how to PM folks? This thread aims to answer all your questions. Hopefully the answers here will eventually form a half-decent FAQ list in the Forum Rules section! Some may already be answered there. Have a look and if they're not ask away!

I'm having problems with my "avator" picture. Are there locations I can find these (apart from the few already given) or do I have to find a picture on a website and put in a link to it?

First of all (and this is very important folks) direct linking to images on someone else's website is a very bad thing. This is Bandwidth Theft and is essentially stealing bandwidth from another person's site. This means the owner of the site you are linking to has to pay for the bandwidth you are using. It's stealing.
So none of that.
The best way to have your own custom avatar is to have a picture you want to use on your own computer (or your own server if you have one, you lucky people). You can use a Photo Editor to change it's size (the maximum avatar size here is 100x100 pixels). Once you have an image you're happy with it's time for the next phase. Getting an imagehosting account.
Imagehosting sites are essentially online photo albums where you can store pictures without them taking up valuable space on your computer. There are many reputable free sites. The most well-known is probably Photobucket (http://photobucket.com) and I've heard good things about Imageshack US (http://www.imageshack.us). However images from the site known as Imghst will not be permitted on this forum. This is because of their policy of replacing links to deleted photos with advertisements for adult entertainment.
Once you've set up your account (doesn't take long) you can upload your image to your new online album. Your chosen site will then generate codes for your picture. You can use the URL in the box beside Avatar URL: in your - Modify Profile - page.
Your chosen picture should then appear beside your posts!
